Argos Shoppers Grab Cheap-to-Run Tower Heater in Clearance

Argos shoppers are turning to a handy gadget to avoid turning their central heating on this winter. The De'Longhi Bend Line 2kW Oscilating Tower Ceramic Heater has entered the retailer's clearance sale, providing 2000 watts of heat into rooms up to 60 square metres.

Features and Shoppers' Reviews

Priced at £100, the heater is ideal for chilly evenings or mornings, adjusting power output automatically as the room warms up. Its wide heating surface also delivers steady, safe warmth without hot spots or harsh blasts of air.

There are two heat settings, thermostat control and remote, allowing you to fine-tune the heat. The tip-over switch cuts power if knocked, and weighing 2.36Kg, it's light enough to move between rooms.

On the Argos website, the De'Longhi tower heater has an 88% recommendation rate. One shopper said: "Good, reliable, and cheap to run. We've bought three of the smaller version of this heater, this is the first of the larger one. So far, it's been just as good as the smaller ones."

Another pleased buyer said: "Efficient and quiet. Bought due to central heating problems, delighted with how warm it kept my living room."

Alternative Options and a Note on Larger Rooms

However, some shoppers say it isn't great at heating larger rooms and spaces. This is evident in one review which reads: "Expensive. Suitable for small rooms only."

There are cheaper options available elsewhere, including the 2000W Convector Heater for £28 at Dunelm. This compact unit has three heat settings and is suitable for 'medium sized rooms'.

The freestanding design includes a convenient carry handle as well as overheating protection. According to Dunelm, it has a running cost of approximately 53p per hour (calculated using the UK Price Guarantee July 2024 electricity rate).

Amazon also stocks the Russell Hobbs Space Heater in Black & Silver which is currently on offer from £41.99 down to £30.66. This one offers 1500W of heat with four different modes and is said to run 'silently'.

Low-Cost Bed Warming Alternative

Another low energy consumption gadget is the Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Underblanket. Priced between £35 and £45 with single, double, king, and super king size options, it's soft to the touch and can be used as an extra layer on beds thanks to handy straps which secure to your mattress.

According to the retailer, by pre-heating your bed for one hour on a low setting, the blanket can cost as little as 1p to run. There are four heat settings in total and a 10 minute heat-up time.

It's a great alternative to turning your central heating on, and has overheat protection, ensuring safety while using overnight.
