Aldi is launching a new homeware item that offers a 'luxurious' and 'elegant' look at a fraction of the cost of similar products from Tesco and Next. The Kirkton House Cashmere Touch Throw will be available from Sunday, November 1, priced at £9.99.
Aldi's Cashmere Touch Throw details
The throw is described by Aldi as: "Wrap yourself in luxurious softness with our Cashmere Touch Throw. Beautifully lightweight and irresistibly cosy, it's the perfect layer for relaxing evenings and adding a touch of elegance to your home." It is made of 100% polyester, measures approximately 150cm x 200cm, and comes in Beige, Green, Mauve, or Grey.
The grey version of the throw bears a visual resemblance to more expensive alternatives on the market. Tesco sells a Brand Lab Fleece Plain Blanket in 'Silver Grey' for £27, described as "plush" with a "soft touch." Both items are solid-colour, 100% polyester blankets with clean, hemmed edges, designed to add a cosy layer to a bed or sofa.
Comparison with Tesco and Next throws
The Aldi throw in grey measures 150cm x 200cm, identical in dimensions to the Tesco Brand Lab Fleece Plain Silver Grey Blanket. However, the textures differ: the Tesco blanket is a high-pile, plush fleece with a thick appearance, while the Aldi throw has a smooth, low-pile cashmere finish that looks more uniform and lightweight.
The Aldi throw also resembles the Next Silver Plush Fleece Throw in colour and styling, though it differs in texture and potentially size. The Next version uses a fluffy "plush fleece" material with a shaggier, deeper pile, while the Aldi throw has a flatter, silkier, low-pile texture.
Size and pricing differences
While the Aldi throw comes in a single standard size (150cm x 200cm), Next offers its throw in multiple size tiers ranging from £12 to £34. If choosing Next's medium/double size, the two products would look nearly identical in how they drape over furniture.
