Aldi has confirmed that all of its UK stores will close on three key dates later this year, allowing staff to spend more time with loved ones after the Christmas rush.
The budget retailer announced on Wednesday that every shop across the country will be shut on Boxing Day, in addition to the already planned closures on Christmas Day. Stores will reopen to shoppers on Sunday, December 27, 2026. They will also remain closed on New Year's Day, January 1, and reopen on Saturday, January 2, 2027.
Extended opening hours in the run-up to Christmas
Opening hours will differ locally in the run-up to Christmas, with many branches extending their trading times to help shoppers get everything they need for the festive season.
Shoppers are advised to check the Aldi Store Finder closer to the time for the latest opening hours at their nearest branch.
Staff pay and benefits
Aldi Store Assistants earn £13.50 per hour nationally and £14.88 inside the M25, increasing to £14.47 and £15.20 respectively with length of service.
Aldi also remains the only major supermarket to offer paid breaks, worth approximately £1,500 a year to the average store worker.
