Aldi's UK market position
Aldi is among the UK's biggest supermarket chains and regularly comes out on top against its competitors in the Which? cheapest supermarket test. The budget grocer claimed first place in the consumer champion's test once more this year, with an average basket cost of £159.48 for 93 items.
Tesco presently holds the largest number of stores among major supermarket chains in the UK, with over 4,000 outlets, according to data from Retail Economics. Aldi currently operates 7,000 stores across 11 countries, with 1,086 of those in the UK.
