Aldi has introduced a strict two-per-product-per-customer purchase limit on certain lines of its Wooden Toy range, which returned to stores nationwide today (Thursday, October 8). The move aims to ensure no families miss out on the highly popular collection that often sells out.
In previous years, the viral toy range has sparked chaos in the middle aisle. With all Specialbuys being fairly limited, this particular collection has led to shoppers lining up outside their local stores, with many stocking up on as many items as they can.
Shoppers queue outside stores
This year was no different, with TikTok being awash with videos from parents who found themselves queueing outside various locations across the UK in a bid to get their hands on the highly coveted range of children's toys.
Mum and lifestyle content creator @natashabarber95 shared a huge queue outside of her own local Aldi. Captioning the clip, she quipped: "If you're not there at 8am, you're not getting the wooden toys."
Others also began sharing their massive hauls. This included @lilaclifter who took to the video sharing platform to show a trolley filled with items they had managed to bag. She said in the video: "Aldi toy event...smashed it."
Reseller criticism
Despite the popularity, the massive queues and huge hauls have sparked debate among shoppers, with many criticising the fact that the wooden toys usually end up on re-selling platform Vinted at inflated prices.
Under one video of the queues, one TikTok user wrote: "Could tell 90% of the ones at my Aldi were resellers as well." Another shopper echoing the sentiments added: "All the Vinted sellers will have them up by now. I literally went in for three things for my lad for Christmas. Got what I needed and left x."
Someone else wrote: "I just want a caterpillar cake. Why's everyone flogging them on Vinted for extortionate amounts??"
New additions for 2026
Aldi's Wooden Toy Range is said to boast more than 50 toys this year. Arriving in stores nationwide three months ahead of Christmas, it offers the perfect opportunity for families who want to get in a few gifts for little ones to find under the tree.
Starting from just £3.99, the supermarket is said to be offering "the lowest prices on the market". Adding to the excitement this year are a few new brand new additions, such as the Wooden 2-in-1 Market Stall Cinema Counter & Kebab Takeaway Food Cart, both priced at £29.99.
Also new for this year is the Wooden Stackable Dishwasher, priced at £17.99, which is perfect for little helpers in the household. Future vets can play with the Wooden Medical and Vet Tables, priced at £19.99, a 21-piece set that comes with a table, medical or vet bag and accessories.
Aldi has also just dropped the Wooden Bike or Rocker for £24.99. Offering a vespa or trike option, these retro-style bikes are available in a chic blue or a sunny yellow colour. Meanwhile, loyal fans of the grocer can get their hands on the Wooden Aldi Supermarket, costing just £29.99. This miniature version of the 'Big Four' chain will see little ones able to be their own manager, as they scan and bag all their own items.
Aldi's Wooden Toy range is back nationwide now. Remember, there's a strict 'two per product per customer purchase limit' on certain lines and that, due to popularity, stock levels may vary.
