Aldi confirms £300m upgrade for 25 UK stores - full list

Aldi has named more than two dozen stores that are set for upgrades this year as part of a £300 million investment in its existing UK estate.

The German supermarket chain, which operates more than a thousand stores across the UK, said 25 more locations will benefit from the programme in 2026. Branches in London, Liverpool, Aberdeen, Sunderland and Bedford are among those receiving refurbishments and other improvements, including more energy-efficient technology.

Extensions and store improvements

Five stores – in Stirling, Paisley, Wollaston, Linlithgow and Lewes – will also be extended as part of the investment programme, Aldi said.

The retailer noted that changes will vary by store, with some branches benefiting from upgrades to their Bakery, Health & Beauty and fresh food areas.

Sustainability measures

The programme of upgrades will also bring in more sustainable features, including energy-efficient fridge doors and natural refrigerants designed to help bring down carbon emissions, the firm said.

Aldi is also investing £370 million to open around 40 new stores across the UK this year.
