Aldi imposes two-item limit on wooden toys as October sale sparks queues
Aldi caps wooden toy purchases at two per person amid queues

Aldi has introduced a temporary purchase limit for shoppers as its Wooden Toy event returned to stores on October 8. Queues formed outside supermarkets across the UK before doors opened, with the range featuring more than 50 toys starting from £3.99.

The supermarket is capping the number of specific toys each shopper can buy to ensure enough stock is available for everyone. Ahead of the sale, Aldi bosses recommended that people should not wait past launch day “to avoid disappointment”, as local stores often sell out of items soon after they arrive on shelves.

Two per product per person

An Aldi spokesperson said: “To meet anticipated demand, a strict two per product per person purchase limit will apply to certain lines. Aldi’s Wooden Toys range is available in stores from October 8, while stocks last. A maximum purchase limit of two per product per person applies to certain lines.”

Videos shared on social media show people queuing outside Aldi stores, with some claiming to have arrived as early as 6am and 7am to secure a front spot in line.

What is in the range

This year’s collection includes wooden railway sets, pirate ships, princess castles, supermarket roleplay sets and more. Smaller sets are positioned as stocking fillers, including £3.99 vehicle sets, wooden food sets from £6.99 and a bucket of wooden building blocks for £8.99.

Aldi said: “The Wooden Toy range remains one of our most popular and anticipated Specialbuys. We are delighted for it to return with a few new exciting additions so parents can get their hands on quality and affordable toys for their children. The Wooden Toys range is highly sought after, and demand is always exceptionally high. To ensure that as many customers as possible have a chance to purchase a piece of the range, a two per product per customer purchase limit on certain lines will be implemented.”

Which items are restricted

The supermarket did not explicitly state which items are restricted, but it is often the large “headline” items such as the Wooden Doll’s House (£34.99), Wooden Kitchen (£29.99) and Wooden Market Stall/Cinema Stand (£29.99). Shoppers can usually check with staff in stores for specific rules on the SpecialBuy section.
