Aldi brings back £70 robot vacuum that sweeps, vacuums and mops

Budget supermarket Aldi has brought back a cleaning tool in a new Special Buy offer that takes a set of tedious jobs off your to-do list. The brand has put its Ambiano Robot Vacuum Cleaner back on sale in all stores across the UK, with stock limited as 'once it's gone, it's gone'.

Features of the Ambiano Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Describing the 'advanced' cleaning gadget, worth £69.99, Aldi said: "Discover smart cleaning with our multifunctional robot vacuum. Combining sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping, it’s perfect for hard floors."

"With a powerful brushless motor delivering 3000 Pa suction and a 400ml dustbin plus 250ml water tank, it cleans efficiently and thoroughly." With a "long-lasting battery" that lasts up to 90 minutes, homeowners can get on with other tasks while the robot does its job.

The device can be controlled by the included remote control or via a free-to-download app. Past versions of the Ambiano Vacuum Cleaner Robot were available in stores at higher prices, such as £89.99 or £99.99.

Comparison with premium brands

It has features very similar to those of many major names that also sell automated hoovers, but at a fraction of the cost. For instance, the eufy RoboVac LR30 Hybrid (£446.62 on Amazon) matches the same 3000 suction power as Aldi's model, which is £376 cheaper.

It also has the added ability to mop and sweep alongside its main job of vacuuming. Most people would have to fork out for a premium brand like Shark (Matrix Plus two-in-one Robot Vacuum and Mop, £414.99) to benefit from these extra cleaning perks.

Stores that share sneak previews of their Special Buy stock online claim that each branch has a limited number of these devices. Once they are sold, they are not likely to get any more, so customers who are interested should act quickly.

What else is new in Aldi's middle aisle this week?

The latest refresh of the SpecialBuy aisle is being promoted as offering home and kitchen essentials for students. It includes cleaning supplies, bedding, storage and more.

For the kitchen, shoppers can pick up compact appliances that are ideal for small kitchens or university halls. For example, the store has affordable Kettles and Toasters (£11.99 each) as well as a "simple" to use Rice Cooker (£9.99) and a Mini Air Fryer (£19.99).

The range also includes some basics like graters (£1.99), single mugs (£2.99), pans (from £3.99) and coffee makers (£5.99).
