Aldi has released its 2026 Christmas advert featuring Kevin the Carrot, and shoppers are already praising it as better than John Lewis' festive spot.
The 50-second clip, launched online at 8am on Thursday, November 5, follows Kevin on a mission to bring home the family dog before Christmas morning. The advert opens with Kevin's daughter Chantenay wishing for the safe return of her pet, Cauli Dog, as the pair put up 'LOST' posters describing the pet as "friendly, but nervous around cheese."
Kevin and Chantenay's snowy search
With mum Katie the Carrot and the other siblings reminiscing about their adventures with Cauli Dog at home, Kevin and Chantenay spot tiny paw prints in the snow. The trail leads them into a snow-dusted wilderness, where they meet a well-meaning scarecrow who gives confusing directions, as well as a grizzly bear that turns out to be a cute, cuddly squirrel.
Following the paw prints back home, the carrot clan continues the search. Chantenay's wish comes true in the heart-warming finale when she is reunited with Cauli Dog, who has been softly snoring inside a Christmas cracker. The advert ends with the message: "All you want for Christmas."
Fans compare Aldi advert to John Lewis
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: "Christmas is all about moments that bring loved ones together. This year, Kevin and Chantenay are on a festive 'pawsuit' to bring Cauli Dog home, reminding us that the real magic of Christmas is being together with the people, and pets, we love. We hope their adventure warms hearts across the nation."
The advert has already gone down well on Instagram after its launch this morning, with many comparing it to John Lewis' controversial advert, which has received a more mixed reaction this year. One shopper wrote: "Better than John Lewis." A second added: "Brilliant & far exceeds @johnlewis Christmas ad." A third echoed the sentiment: "Again, Aldi Christmas advert is better than John Lewis."
Further praise for Kevin and the carrot clan's return includes being branded "adorable," while another shopper said it gave them "goosebumps." Others have suggested it is "the best" Christmas advert for 2026 so far.
