A retinol moisturiser reduced to £18.56 in the iHerb sale has been praised by a 36-year-old shopper who says she is "frequently mistaken for late twenties". The Bliss Youth Got This Pure Retinol Moisturiser has been cut from £24.95 as part of a wider iHerb promotion offering up to 30% off selected items, including skincare and supplements.
What the moisturiser claims to do
The cream is designed to target signs of ageing as well as dryness and dehydration, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines while smoothing the skin's texture, the brand claims. It is made with amino acids, peptides, squalane and antioxidants to boost hydration and support the skin barrier.
iHerb's price undercuts Amazon, where the moisturiser is available with updated packaging for £21, and the Bliss website, where it is on sale for £25.19.
Shopper reviews and retinol advice
One reviewer on the iHerb website wrote: "I've been a fan of the Bliss brand for over 10 years. This retinol moisturiser has been one of the most effective I've tried, with a very subtle scent. I love the texture because it's the perfect balance between light and thick, [whereas] most retinols are super heavy."
A Beauty Bay reviewer said: "Wow this moisturiser is totally my new fave and I can't see my mind changing… already my skin looks how it used to, I'm 44 and feel a lot younger so this helps me look it." Another buyer in their thirties said in a Reddit beauty thread: "I'm 36 and I'm frequently mistaken for late twenties. My skin looked completely different when I was using the Bliss Youth Got This retinol."
Mixed feedback and alternatives
Not all feedback was positive, with one Amazon reviewer noting: "I liked the consistency of the cream and it did not feel greasy or sticky. At first it felt very nice; however, after using for a few days, only at night, I started to notice that my skin was looking dry." Another wrote: "This product is great. I love Bliss anyway, but especially now that I'm middle-aged at 40. I've been insecure about the laugh lines that have shown up on my face after I had my baby at 39. IT WORKS! I put it on every night and wake up with the lines less visible."
Consumer experts at Which? say retinol is good for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage, and smoothing and brightening the skin, as well as clearing pores and tackling acne. They advise pairing it with soothing and hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or ceramides, and strongly recommend always using SPF during the day, as retinol can make skin more sensitive to the sun.
Among other retinol products, Boots sells its own Renewing Retinol Serum at £8, formulated with 0.3% retinol and designed to be used no more than twice per week initially. Sephora's Lift & Firm Recovery Firming Night Oil, priced at £23.99, is designed for all skin types and aims to leave the skin feeling "regenerated", according to the retailer.
