Tesco has unveiled a major update to its popular £3.85 meal deal, giving shoppers even more choice with the addition of 16 iced Costa Coffee drinks. The supermarket has confirmed that, from today, customers can now include a refreshing iced Costa beverage as part of the retailer's famous lunchtime deal.
Until now, only hot Costa drinks from in-store machines were included in the offer. The latest change means customers can now enjoy a range of chilled coffees and fruit-flavoured drinks during the summer months without paying extra as part of the meal deal.
New iced options and pricing
Tesco shoppers can now choose from 16 iced Costa Coffee drinks, including favourites such as an iced latte, iced mocha, strawberry and lime over ice, and mango and passionfruit over ice. The full list includes Regular Iced Latte (£3.20), Regular Iced Latte with flavour (£3.60), Regular Iced Vanilla Latte (£3.60), Regular Iced Cappuccino (£3.20), Regular Iced Cappuccino with syrup (£3.60), Regular Iced Chocolate (£3.40), Regular Iced Chocolate with syrup (£3.80), Regular Iced Mocha (£3.50), Regular Iced Mocha with syrup (£3.90), Regular Iced Black Americano (£2.90), Regular Iced Black Americano with syrup (£3.30), Regular Iced White Americano (£2.90), Regular Iced White Americano with syrup (£3.30), Mandarin & Chai Over Ice (£2.75), Strawberry & Lime Over Ice (£2.75), and Mango & Passionfruit Over Ice (£2.75).
Tesco's meal deal continues to offer shoppers a main, snack and drink for £3.85 with a Clubcard, or £4.25 without one. Buying one of the new Costa drinks separately would typically cost between £2.75 and £3.90, depending on the flavour, making the meal deal even better value for coffee lovers.
Industry context
The announcement comes as supermarket meal deal prices have been rising across the industry. Last month, Waitrose increased the price of its lunchtime deal by 10%, taking it to £5.50. Meanwhile, Sainsbury's raised the cost of its meal deal by 20p last summer, from £3.75 to £3.95, while Tesco also increased the price of its own offer by 25p during the same period.
The expanded drinks range is expected to appeal to customers looking for a chilled alternative during warmer weather, while adding even more value to one of the UK's most popular supermarket meal deals.
