Urgent Recalls: Lidl, Amazon, TK Maxx, River Island Products Pose Fire, Chemical, Allergy Risks
Product Recalls: Lidl, Amazon, TK Maxx, River Island

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) and the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) have issued multiple product recall warnings this week for items sold at Amazon, Lidl, TK Maxx, and River Island. The recalls affect an indoor grill with fire and electrical hazards, a spatula containing a banned chemical, pistachio ice cream with undeclared cashew nuts, and childrenswear with toxic brooch accessories.

Amazon: Cook N Repeat Electric Indoor Grill

The Cook N Repeat Electric Indoor Grill, sold on Amazon, has been recalled due to a serious risk of fire and electrical hazards. According to the OPSS, the earthing terminal lacks a required secondary locking device, which can lead to loosening, overheating, and fire. Additionally, the plug fuse is underweighted and suspected to be counterfeit, failing to meet UK safety standards. The affected model is AN-059, with barcode 786368956448 and ASIN B0FDQC7YTM. Amazon has removed the listing and destroyed the import at the border. Consumers are advised to stop using the grill immediately and contact the distributor for redress.

TK Maxx: Westmark Gallant Spatula

The Westmark GmbH Gallant Spatula, sold at TK Maxx and Homesense, has been recalled due to a chemical health risk. The spatula contains methylenedianiline above permitted levels, which may migrate into food during normal use. The affected model is 29352270 with date stamp 03/25 and barcode 4004094293573, sold between April 2025 and June 2026. Consumers should stop using the spatula and return it to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund or replacement. For further information, contact TK Maxx at 01923 473561.

Lidl: 1001 Delights Dubai Style Pistachio Ice Cream

Lidl Northern Ireland has recalled its 1001 Delights Dubai Style Pistachio Ice Cream (300g, best before December 8, 2027) due to undeclared cashew nuts. The product poses a serious health risk to anyone with a cashew allergy. This recall applies only to Northern Ireland and Ireland. Consumers who have purchased the ice cream and have a cashew allergy should not eat it and should return it to any Lidl store for a full refund.

River Island: Childrenswear with Toxic Brooches

River Island has recalled three childrenswear items due to chemical contamination in decorative brooches. The metal casings on heart- and bow-shaped brooches contain excess cadmium, restricted under UK regulations. The affected products are: One Shoulder Scuba Dress in Blue (product 438395) and Pink (438394), White Crepe Skort (438200), and White Crepe Top (438202), in all childrenswear sizes. Consumers should stop using the garments, keep them away from children, and return them to any River Island store for a full refund. For alternative arrangements, contact customer.services@river-island.com or call +44 (0) 3445766444.
