Ten areas across the North East have won £1,000 each in the Postcode Lottery this week, with winning postcodes in County Durham, Gateshead, North Tyneside and Tees Valley.

Winning areas and dates

The winning areas were selected between Saturday, August 8th and Friday, August 14th. While no one won the big Saturday prize, players in two streets received £1,000 each.

On Saturday, DL17 0FA in Chilton and NE11 0YJ in Kibblesworth both won. Sunday saw DH6 2FD in Shotton Colliery and NE26 4NJ in Whitley Bay win. Monday brought wins for NE11 9QZ in Dunston and TS27 4DN in Blackhall Colliery.

How the lottery works

The People's Postcode Lottery charges participants £12.50 per month, using their full home postcode as their entry. At least 30% of the ticket price goes directly to charities and local community projects.

Since 2005, players have raised more than £950 million for over 9,000 charities and good causes.
