Ederson Signs New Atalanta Deal After Failed Man Utd Move
Manchester United's pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Ederson has collapsed after the Brazilian signed a new contract with the Serie A side. The 25-year-old was close to a £38m switch to Old Trafford, but the deal fell through following a medical that revealed a problem, according to the Mirror. United lost interest in the original structure and could not renegotiate terms, leading Ederson to commit his future to Atalanta.
A club statement said: "After an initial four-year spell in the Nerazzurri colours, marked by outstanding results and mutual satisfaction, the bond between Ederson Jose dos Santos Lourenco da Silva and Atalanta BC has grown even stronger. Since his first season with the club, the 2022/23 campaign, Ederson has established himself as one of the team's technical leaders, becoming a fan favourite thanks to his quality, determination and competitive spirit."
United's Summer Business So Far
Manager Michael Carrick has already signed three players ahead of the new season. Midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans joined for a combined fee exceeding £80m, while goalkeeper Karl Darlow arrived to provide competition. Andre Onana has extended his loan at Trabzonspor for another season. United finished third last term, securing a Champions League return, which Carrick says demands a deeper squad.
Tyler Fredricson Edging Closer to Exit
Youth defender Tyler Fredricson is nearing a departure from United, according to BBC Sport. The 21-year-old centre-half was left out of the squad for Saturday's 1-0 friendly defeat to Wrexham as his exit is prepared. Celtic is a possible destination after a January move collapsed, but a switch to continental Europe could also happen. Fredricson, an England youth international, made his senior debut under Ruben Amorim in the 2024/25 season and has made four appearances, the latest against Newcastle on Boxing Day.
