Correction on Postpartum Haemorrhage Statistics

The Guardian has issued a correction regarding an article published on 29 June, titled "Birth risks to mothers in England at record levels, NHS data shows." The article reported on figures for postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) but failed to specify that the data referred to cases involving at least 1,500ml of blood loss. According to standard medical definitions, PPH is defined as a loss of more than 500ml of blood, with losses above 1,000ml classified as major PPH. The figures cited were for severe cases, not all PPH incidents.

Other Recent Corrections

In addition to the PPH correction, several other articles have been amended recently. These include: Australian universities required to adopt definitions of antisemitism and Islamophobia; concerns over New Zealand's first AI datacentre; Democratic divisions over Israel's war in Gaza affecting US midterm races; a Texas Democratic candidate alleging corruption in SpaceX grants; New York City's move to ban deceptive subscription practices; criticism of Trump administration policies opening endangered species habitats to logging and mining; political analysis of One Nation's rise in polls and the Greens' decline; a murder charge against a missing woman's former partner after remains were found in Queensland; a retrospective on Alan Parker's Bugsy Malone at 50; and an incident where a Ryanair passenger was almost sucked out of a shattered window.
