Argentina and Spain face off on Sunday evening in the FIFA World Cup final, with the winner taking home $50 million (£37m) in performance-based prize money, while the runner-up will receive $28.8 million (£21.4m). This represents an $8 million (£6m) increase from the $42 million awarded to champions Argentina in 2022.
Record Prize Pool
FIFA has set a total distribution pool of $655 million (£490m) for the 2026 tournament, a 50 per cent increase over the previous edition. Even teams eliminated early are guaranteed at least $10.5 million just for qualifying.
