A homeowner has sparked an online debate after refusing her neighbour's demand to move her garden privacy fence six feet back. The woman, who installed the fence shortly after moving into her new home, said she did so to keep her dog safe and contained.
Just hours after the fence went up, the neighbour came round and asked her to move it back about six feet, claiming it blocked her view from her kitchen window. The neighbour argued that moving the fence would still leave the homeowner with plenty of yard.
Property Line Dispute
The woman explained on Reddit that the fence was entirely on her property line, as she had a survey done. Moving it would give the neighbour six extra feet of her yard for free. The neighbour then claimed that because she had lived there for 15 years and had always had that view, it was 'basically hers'.
The homeowner laughed and refused. Since then, the neighbour has allegedly thrown leaves and branches over the fence twice and was caught trying to peek over with a step ladder. When confronted, the neighbour said if the woman weren't so selfish, she wouldn't have to do it.

Turning to social media for advice, the woman received a range of responses. One user suggested recording the neighbour and calling the city. Another asked why the neighbour didn't move her kitchen window to regain her view. A third recommended spraying her with a water hose if she peeks again.
Another user advised getting a ring camera pointed at the fence to capture any potential damage, saying, 'Don't put it past her to damage your fence when you're not around.'
