The UK National Lottery's Powerball game launches on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, offering players the chance to win shared jackpots with US counterparts that can reach billions of pounds. Operator Allwyn confirmed the game will cost £4 per line, with the first draw scheduled for Thursday.
Jackpot Details and Prize Tiers
The current Powerball jackpot stands at 416 million US dollars (£311 million) and could grow further before the UK launch. If it rolls over, UK players will be eligible for the opening draw. The UK version features uncapped jackpots starting at £12 million, with potential to reach hundreds of millions or billions. Prizes are paid out over 30 years.
Unique to the UK, an extra "match two main numbers" tier offers a fixed £8 prize. The "match five main numbers" tier provides a fixed £1 million, while other UK prize tiers vary based on balls drawn and winner count.

Powerball follows the biggest overhaul of the Lotto game since 1994, introduced on June 7, which gives players two chances to win per £2 ticket. This change is expected to more than double Lotto millionaires from around 140 to 345 annually.

Allwyn recently completed a £450 million technology upgrade, moving 18 million player records and over three billion historical transactions to new platforms, and transforming retail partner technology.
Total National Lottery sales in 2025 reached £8.1 billion, up 3.5% year-on-year. Over £1.7 billion was generated for good causes, funding health, education, arts, sports, heritage, and charitable projects, while £967 million was raised in taxes.
