UK Construction Firm Architectural Panel Solutions Enters Administration
A prominent UK construction company, Architectural Panel Solutions Limited, has officially entered administration after being in business since 2018. The firm, which specialised in façade and cladding systems for both commercial and residential buildings, was based in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, and went into administration on November 14, 2024.
Rising Costs and Economic Pressures
The company has not publicly commented on the decision, but industry analysts point to significant economic challenges. The cost of construction materials imported into the UK has increased sharply, with Brexit cited as a major contributing factor. Additional pressures include global shipping constraints and the ongoing war in Ukraine, which have disrupted supply chains and driven up expenses.
According to recent industry reports, construction costs in the UK have risen by approximately 15 to 20 per cent since 2020. This surge has placed considerable strain on firms across the sector, making it difficult for businesses like Architectural Panel Solutions to remain financially viable.
Administration Process and Future Prospects
David Hudson and Philip Armstrong of FRP Advisory were appointed as joint administrators to oversee the process. The company remains formally in administration, with ongoing filings at Companies House, including administrator proposals and progress reports spanning from 2024 to 2025. In November 2025, a notice was filed to extend the administration period, indicating that the administrators are actively working on the case rather than moving immediately to liquidation.
It is currently unknown whether any staff members have lost their jobs as a result of the administration. Architectural Panel Solutions Limited supplied a diverse range of architectural products for modern buildings, such as fire-resistant cladding, rainscreens systems, re-constituted stone cladding, rear-ventilated cladding systems, and fibre cement panels.
Broader Industry Context
This development occurs amidst wider turmoil in the UK's engineering and manufacturing sectors. For instance, engineering and manufacturing firm JRM Advanced Engineering is also seeking a buyer after entering administration earlier this month. The Northamptonshire-based company, which operates in motorsport, aerospace, and marine industries, went into administration on February 12, 2026, with Gary Pettit of PBC Business Recovery and Insolvency appointed to oversee the process.
In its prime, JRM Advanced Engineering served as a Tier 1 supplier, securing ongoing contracts with premium automotive and performance brands like Jaguar Land Rover, Arctic Trucks, Subaru, and Nissan Nismo. The fate of its staff remains uncertain, mirroring the challenges faced by Architectural Panel Solutions.
The administration of Architectural Panel Solutions highlights the ongoing struggles within the UK construction industry, exacerbated by post-Brexit trade complexities, geopolitical tensions, and inflationary pressures. As administrators continue their work, stakeholders await further developments regarding potential asset sales, creditor arrangements, and the impact on employment in the region.
