Tottenham Hotspur have fresh motivation to return with a second transfer offer for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali after Lucas Bergvall informed the club he wants to leave this summer.
Newcastle Rejects Initial Bid
According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle rejected an offer of around £80 million for the Italy international last week. The Magpies informed Spurs they will not sell for less than £100 million, a valuation that reflects Tonali's development since joining from AC Milan for £55 million three years ago. He has since become a leading Premier League midfielder and still has three years remaining on his contract at St James' Park.
Bergvall's Departure Sparks Midfield Search
The Athletic reports that Lucas Bergvall is keen to leave Tottenham this summer due to limited opportunities under manager Roberto De Zerbi, who prefers Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha in midfield. The 20-year-old Sweden international, signed from Djurgardens in 2024, is valued at around £45 million. Aston Villa and Chelsea have previously shown interest, while Nottingham Forest are keen to take him to the City Ground this summer.
