Rolf Harris's Bray Mansion Sells for £1.7m After Price Drop

The former Berkshire home of convicted paedophile Rolf Harris has been sold for £1.7 million, a significant reduction from its original £4 million asking price. The property, located in the affluent village of Bray on the banks of the River Thames, was put up for auction in March 2026 after failing to sell on the open market.

Property Details and Auction History

The waterfront residence, which Harris owned for decades, initially went on the market in April 2025 with a guide price of £4 million. However, it was subsequently listed for auction by BTG Eddisons with a guide price of £1.95 million. The auction in April 2026 failed to meet the reserve price, leading to a further reduction to £1.755 million. Later that month, bidding opened at £1.4 million and the home finally exchanged hands for £1.7 million.

The 6,440-square-foot property spans two storeys and includes four bedrooms, a 45-foot living space, a 35-foot master bedroom, studio space, a self-contained annexe, and a boat house. Local estate agent Brian Warren commented on the initial pricing, saying, "Given the cost of renovation, it's just not cost effective if you have to pay £4 million for the property. They're looking at paying another £1.5 million on top of the price to rebuild it because it's on the river."

Harris's Criminal History and Death

Rolf Harris, the Australian broadcaster and artist, was sentenced in 2014 to five years and nine months in prison for a series of indecent assaults. He was released on licence in 2017 after serving just three years. Following his release, he lived at the Bray property with his wife, sculptor and artist Alwen Hughes. Harris died at the home in May 2023 at the age of 93.

His daughter, Bindi Harris, has since adopted a different name and has distanced herself from her father's legacy.

Prime Video Documentary

The sale of the property coincides with the release of a new two-part documentary on Prime Video titled Rolf Harris: Primetime Predator. The documentary examines how Harris operated undetected for decades and the lasting impact on his victims. According to the streaming service, the film explores "how, after decades of operating undetected, his offences continue to impact his victims to this day."
