Omaze Winner Sells £3M Mansion for £850K Less Than Value

Britain's Youngest Omaze Winner Sells Dream House for Nearly £1 Million Below Advertised Value

Lauren Keene, who became Britain's youngest Omaze winner at just 24 years old, has sold her prize mansion for almost £1 million less than its advertised value during the charity draw. The nanny from Gloucestershire won the luxurious property in December 2024 through an Omaze subscription that cost her only £20, but has now accepted an offer of £2,150,000 after months on the market.

From Happy Meal Celebration to Quick Sale Decision

When Lauren received the life-changing call from Omaze informing her of the win, she was actually on her way to a McDonald's drive-thru after work. She celebrated her multi-million pound windfall with a Happy Meal that evening, joking that "missing that Maccies made me a multi-millionaire." At the time, she lived with her father in his two-bedroom flat and expressed excitement about finally being able to move out.

The property, named Rock Mount, is located in the exclusive village of Caldy on the Wirral Peninsula and was valued at £3 million by the fundraising company. The contemporary mansion features spectacular coastal views, a cinema room, a heated outdoor swimming pool, and nearly 4,700 square feet of living space across five bedrooms.

Struggle to Sell Despite Significant Price Reductions

Despite initial plans to live in the mansion "for years" with her boyfriend Ryan Mitchell, a software engineer, Lauren put the property on the market within months of winning it. She initially listed it for £2.5 million in an attempt to stimulate a quick sale, but even at this heavily discounted price struggled to generate sufficient interest from potential buyers.

After nine months on the market, Lauren accepted a further reduced offer of £2,150,000, which represents £850,000 below the advertised value during the raffle. This final sale price is even lower than the £2.9 million that Omaze paid to acquire the property before offering it as a prize in their regular draw.

Luxurious Property Details and Prestigious Location

The architect-designed home sits on 1.18 acres of secluded private grounds on Thorsway, described as the most exclusive road on the Wirral Peninsula. The property was nominated for the prestigious RIBA Mansell House of the Year award, with judges praising it as "an original and inspiring new composition that matches the quality of its setting in every way."

Built in 2011 on the site of a former quarry within a Conservation Area, Rock Mount offers spectacular views across the Dee Estuary toward the Welsh mountains. The area has long been a hotspot for wealthy buyers, particularly footballers, with former Liverpool players Emile Heskey, Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush, and John Barnes having all lived there, and ex-manager Rafa Benitez still residing in the neighborhood.

Property Features Include:
  • 57-foot long open plan kitchen and living space
  • Master bedroom with en suite bathroom
  • Four additional bedrooms and family bathroom
  • Study on the ground floor
  • Large entrance hall and family room on first floor
  • Staff bedroom with en suite
  • Heated swimming pool and entertaining terrace
  • Outdoor kitchen and good-sized garage

Previous Market History and Current Sale Context

Before Omaze purchased the contemporary five-bedroom house, it had previously been listed on the market for as much as £3.75 million before being reduced to £3.5 million. The charity raffle company ultimately acquired the stunning home for £2.9 million to offer as a prize in one of their regular draws.

In addition to the mansion itself, Lauren also received £250,000 in cash as part of her prize package. The property came mortgage-free with all legal fees covered, providing her with significant financial flexibility despite the eventual sale at below the advertised valuation.

The sale highlights the challenges that can sometimes accompany winning high-value properties through charity raffles, even when those properties are located in some of Britain's most exclusive addresses and come with prestigious architectural credentials and luxurious amenities.
