Councillors have approved plans to invest in providing almost 400 additional homes for tenants in the next few years.
Initiatives added to housing investment plan
A dozen initiatives have been added to North Lanarkshire Council's strategic housing investment plan, which will until the 2031/32 financial year.
The largest of these is the council's aim to purchase 100 properties which are either empty or available on the open market, while the biggest single build is a plan to create 44 new homes at Brandon Street in Motherwell.
Existing projects and housing association developments
These projects join numerous priorities which were previously approved by the housing committee, totalling almost 2,000 new homes.
Some of these developments are by housing associations such as almost 200 Sanctuary homes on the former site of the HMRC tax office in Cumbernauld.
Completed and deleted initiatives
Some other housing initiatives were deleted from the plans as they have been or will soon be completed or because no progress was being made.
One recently completed development was the creation of 17 new council homes at Coshneuk Road in Stepps.
