Major Blaze Erupts at West London Industrial Estate
A significant fire has broken out at a factory on the Middlesex Business Park in Southall, West London, prompting a massive response from the London Fire Brigade. The incident was reported at 8.55am on November 25, with crews rushing to the scene on Bridge Road.
Scale of the Firefighting Operation
The fire involves a two-storey building containing a warehouse and retail space. The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that approximately three-quarters of the structure is currently alight. To combat the intense blaze, the service has deployed a substantial force.
150 firefighters are now on the scene, operating from 25 fire engines. The crews have come from fire stations in Southall, Heston, Ealing, and surrounding areas. The operation has been scaled up after an initial deployment of 70 firefighters, with the LFB describing it as a 'protracted incident' and stating that crews will be carrying out firefighting operations throughout the day.
To gain an advantage over the flames, three of the Brigade's turntable ladders have been deployed, allowing firefighters to attack the fire from height.
Impact on the Local Area and Ongoing Response
The fire is producing a massive plume of smoke, which is visible across large parts of West London. The LFB's control officers have received over 50 calls from the public reporting the incident.
Authorities have issued an urgent advisory to local residents to keep their doors and windows closed due to the significant amount of smoke. The fire is also causing considerable disruption to the local transport network.
Roads in the vicinity have been closed and bus services are being diverted. The London Ambulance Service and the Metropolitan Police are also present at the scene, supporting the fire brigade's efforts.
Fortunately, the London Fire Brigade has confirmed that there have been no reports of any injuries so far. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and remains under investigation.
