A new specialty café has opened at the Trafford Centre inside the ‘largest in the world’ JD Sports store, and it is celebrating by giving away 400 free drinks this weekend.

Last summer, JD Sports opened its largest revamped store, spanning 41,000 sq ft, inside the popular shopping centre. The opening drew in huge queues and featured a surprise appearance from sporting legend Usain Bolt.
As well as being a shopping destination, the store also features t-shirt customisation stations, a barbers, a gaming zone and more. In its first year, it has already hosted events including organising a unique 5k race inside the centre.
Iced menu and drinks
It has now been announced that JD Sports will also be home to iced, a new in-store cafe. Opened earlier this week, the cafe features a menu spanning coffees, teas, matchas, shakes and sweet treats.
Originally launched as a standalone concept in Liverpool ONE and Meadowhall, iced’s Trafford Centre cafe will be the first to be situated inside a JD Sports store.
On the coffee side of things are choices including frappes, cloudy lattes, cold brews and an ‘iced dirty matcha latte’, whilst matcha flavours include salted pistachio, strawberry and vanilla, and white chocolate and raspberry.
There will also be a variety of freshly-made smoothies on offer, with the Pretty in Pink featuring purple dragon fruit, blueberry, strawberry, mango and papaya, whilst the Blue Me Away includes blue spirulina, coconut, mango, pineapple and banana.
Free drinks this weekend
To celebrate the cafe's big opening, there will be 400 free drinks given away this weekend - with 200 given away on both Saturday and Sunday (August 15 and 16). The offer will be open to the first customers in line each day until the allocation runs out.
At the end of last year, JD Sports said its overall sales figures had been boosted by the 'continued success' of the Trafford Centre store specifically. The brand was first established by John Wardle and David Makin back in 1981 where they traded from a single shop in Bury.
The pair first opened the business as "John David Sports", but over time it became shortened to JD, a combination of the first letter of their names. It has now grown to over 4,500 stores in 36 countries worldwide, amid a boom in demand for sportswear fashion.
