Couple Finds Hidden 1930s Bathroom Behind 'Haunted' Door in Renovation Shock
Hidden bathroom found behind 'haunted' door in 1930s home

A couple who recently moved into a 1930s-built home got more than they bargained for during renovations, stumbling upon a mysterious sealed door they were convinced was "haunted".

The Eerie Discovery Behind the Drywall

The pair, known online as Goldenberry, were stripping away drywall to expose original brickwork when they found the concealed entrance. They claimed the door's existence was unknown, even to the previous owners, and it had not been mentioned during the property purchase. Despite their fears of a supernatural chamber, they decided to force it open.

Revealing the Hidden Space and a Dangerous Secret

After considerable effort prying the jammed, handle-less door open, they were met not with a ghostly presence, but with a forgotten second bathroom that had been plastered over. In a follow-up TikTok video, they expressed their shock, joking they were "scared s******s" to find a whole bathroom.

The surprise deepened when they investigated further. Realising their upstairs bathroom was directly above, they lifted a ceiling panel in the hidden room. They discovered the floorboards above were crumbling and rotten, seriously jeopardising the structural integrity. The couple quipped they were "one bubble bath away from a Final Destination-level chain reaction" where their tub could have crashed through.

Online Speculation and Renovation Dilemma

The viral clips sparked intense speculation from viewers. Many warned the room was sealed for a reason, with comments suggesting a dark past. "The true crime in me feels like something happened in that bathroom," one viewer wrote. Another stated, "Nobody boards up a perfectly usable bathroom for no reason."

As of mid-December 2025, the couple had not provided a new update. They are presumably working on a solution to fix the dangerous floorboards and prevent a collapse. It remains unclear whether they will fully renovate the hidden bathroom or seal it away once more.
