Pep Guardiola has offered indirect advice to Manchester City regarding the potential signing of Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, warning that young players must be given adequate playing time to avoid discontent. Guardiola's Warning on Young Players
Speaking to OKX, Guardiola reflected on his experience at City: 'I spoke many times with the Man City sporting director, Txiki Begiristain and Hugo Viana, and said: “Now we have a young team for the next three or four years”. It’s not true. You don’t know why, but it doesn’t work. A lot of players, young players, don’t play and say: “I want to leave. I’m here in cold Manchester, not playing, I want to leave”. And you have to replace those guys.' He emphasised the importance of recruitment: 'The big task is how the club, organisation, sporting director, manager, CEO, hierarchy recruit the right players you need - everyone makes mistakes, but make as few as possible. That’s the key point.'
Bouaddi Transfer Negotiations
City are negotiating with Lille for Bouaddi, who made 14 Premier League appearances in his final season under Guardiola before being sold to Chelsea, where he became a star. Lille president Olivier Letang insists that Bouaddi's next move must aid his development, advocating a loan back to France for guaranteed game time. However, City are reluctant to spend £85 million without immediate integration into Enzo Maresca's squad.
