eXp UK cuts commission cap for top-performing estate agency teams

eXp UK is cutting commission caps for its most productive estate agency teams, with qualifying team leaders able to retain an additional £6,000 under the new arrangement.

The self-employed estate agency network will introduce its Premier Teams model on 1 November 2026. The changes will create two structures: Standard Teams and Premier Teams.

New commission structures

Under the Standard Teams arrangement, team leaders face a £24,000 commission cap. Individual team members benefit from a lower £9,000 cap. Premier Teams will have a reduced team leader cap of £18,000, representing a £6,000 saving compared with the standard arrangement.

To qualify, a team must have at least three members who each generated £20,000 in gross commission income (GCI) over the previous year, meaning a combined minimum of £60,000 in GCI. Teams must maintain the required production levels during subsequent capping periods and meet eXp's commission contribution requirements.

Premier Icon recognition scheme

The company is introducing a Premier Icon recognition scheme for team leaders who reach further production milestones. The changes aim to encourage established agency businesses to expand while retaining more commission income.

eXp's Teams model allows businesses to keep their existing brands and customer relationships while gaining access to the wider network's technology, training and support.

AI investment continues

Alongside the commission changes, eXp UK is developing more artificial intelligence tools to reduce administrative work. The company has already introduced AI-powered call handling across its network, which handles incoming enquiries when agents are unavailable, including outside normal working hours.

Further developments include automated appointment booking, CRM integration, self-billing and AI-led valuations. However, eXp has not confirmed when these additional features will launch.

Adam Day, head of eXp UK and Europe, said: "Our ambition is simple. We want to help ambitious estate agency businesses sell more property and keep more of the money they earn.

"The introduction of Premier Teams rewards those who are building successful, productive businesses with a lower commission cap, while our continued investment in AI is designed to give them more time to focus on generating business."

Day said administrative demands could place considerable pressure on team leaders who also handle their own sales. "AI gives us an opportunity to remove much of that repetitive work, freeing up agents to focus on winning instructions, progressing sales and delivering a better service to their clients," he added.

The revised structure forms part of eXp's efforts to attract established agency teams to its self-employed model, with lower commission caps and technology support central to that approach.
