Curb Your Enthusiasm star Cheryl Hines has responded to Chelsea Handler's allegations that the home she bought from Hines and her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was 'toxic' and unlivable. Handler, 51, claimed on her podcast earlier this month that the $5.9 million Los Angeles property had severe foundation issues and an illegal storage unit, requiring extensive renovations.
In an excerpt from an upcoming episode of the Tomi Lahren is Fearless podcast, Hines questioned the timing of Handler's complaints, noting she bought the house five years ago. 'You have to question the timing of it,' Hines said, adding that Handler's story 'doesn't really hold water.' Hines also revealed she left a personal note with her phone number when Handler moved in, saying she would not have done so if they were trying to 'unload a toxic house.'
Handler had described the home as a 'disaster' with 'the most toxic environment,' claiming an inspector told her she could not live there for at least two years. She also criticised Kennedy, now U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, calling him 'the embodiment of everything that is wrong with this administration.'
Property records show the sale was finalised in October 2021 via a trust under Handler's sister's name. The five-bedroom home, built in 1937, is located in Brentwood's Mandeville Canyon neighbourhood.
