Carnbroe housing development approved by councillors

Councillors have approved the construction of a housing development at Carnbroe in Coatbridge. North Lanarkshire Council's planning committee unanimously agreed with a recommendation to grant planning permission for Taylor Wimpey's proposed 125 houses on land at Carnbroe Road, subject to conditions and a legal agreement concerning a financial contribution towards local education.

Development details

The site is around five hectares in area and the housing will be a mix of 48 detached, 40 semi-detached and 37 terraced style properties, all two storeys in height. A play area is also included in the proposals.

Consultation and decision

The council received no objections during the consultation phase of the application process and the recommendation to grant the application was made because the proposed development was considered to be compliant with national and local planning policy, and would not cause unacceptable detriment to the surrounding area.
