Cardiff house frozen in time goes under the hammer for £29k

A three-bedroom terrace house in Adamsdown, Cardiff, with a guide price of £29,000 is set to go under the virtual hammer, offering buyers a chance to take on a full back-to-bricks renovation. The property, described as frozen in time with decor stuck in the 1960s, is being sold by Paul Fosh Auctions.

Dated interior and renovation needs

Inside, every room requires attention, from damp and mould in the bathroom to fire-risk ceiling tiles, stained walls and ceilings, and an overgrown garden. Some items from a previous occupant remain, including clothes still in a wardrobe.

The house features an open plan lounge/dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and three bedrooms upstairs. The rear garden is currently overgrown and inaccessible, and the property will be sold with vacant possession.

Location and potential

The terrace is walkable to Cardiff city centre and Roath Park, with shops and services in surrounding streets and a 15-minute walk to city centre amenities. Good transport links via road and rail are also noted.

Angie Davey of Paul Fosh Auctions said: “There is little doubt that there is a fair amount of work that’s required to get the house up together but the effort could be well worthwhile for this well-positioned, mid terraced house.” She added that once refurbished to a high standard, the property could achieve a rental of approximately £1,300 per calendar month.

Auction details

The online auction with Paul Fosh Auctions begins at noon on Tuesday, September 1, and ends at 2pm on Thursday, September 3. The house is currently the cheapest on the market but is expected to sell for more than its £29,000 guide price.
