Cardiff homeowners are listing properties on Airbnb for more than £5,000 a night as boxing fans prepare to descend on the city for the heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua at the Principality Stadium on Friday, December 11.
Tickets for the fight go on sale at midday on Friday, October 9, and accommodation is already in high demand, with several properties listed for eye-watering sums for the night of the bout. Estimates suggest around £30m could come into the Welsh economy across that weekend.
Properties priced over £5,000
Several Cardiff homeowners are offering entire houses for more than £5,000 for a single night's stay, with some properties boasting pool tables, dart boards and outdoor hot tubs. One of the most expensive options is a property in the Cardiff suburb of Radyr, advertising a bedroom within the house rather than the entire property, meaning guests would have to share facilities with the host.
The listings indicate the huge demand expected for accommodation in Cardiff when Fury and Joshua finally meet in the ring. The fight could provide a significant boost to the Welsh economy beyond the Principality Stadium itself.
