Bolton's Assembly Rooms, one of the town's grandest and most recognisable historic buildings, is up for sale as commercial space after undergoing an extensive renovation. The Grade II-listed property on Lower Bridgeman Street originally served as public baths and function rooms.
A landmark building with period features
The four-floor building features striking period architecture, including a mezzanine level overlooking a central atrium. It hosted civic functions and parties until the 1980s and later operated as the Bolton Business Centre before a major heritage-focused interior overhaul that took several years.
The building is currently on the market with agents Fletcher CRE. Its marketing material describes the property as having been designed to accommodate a wide range of uses, currently offering conference facilities, breakout spaces, presentation areas and open-plan workspaces, while retaining the architectural details that have made it one of Bolton's most recognisable historic buildings.
Refurbishment and flexible workspace
The brochure states: “Behind its grand stone façade, the historic building has undergone an extensive refurbishment in recent years, carefully preserving many of its original features while creating a flexible, modern workspace unlike almost anything else currently available in Greater Manchester.”
The restored spaces include exposed brickwork, vaulted ceilings and large feature windows.
Sale details and potential
Fletcher CRE said the building offers 9,141 sq ft of accommodation and is being sold with vacant possession and eight on-site car parking spaces. The asking price has not been publicised and is available 'on application'. The property's brochure also notes 'significant alternative use potential' for the building.
