Affinity Packaging Ltd, a Lancashire-based packaging company whose products appeared in major UK supermarkets including Tesco, Morrisons, and Sainsbury's, has collapsed into liquidation with debts totaling £2,465,901. Liquidators were appointed on June 17, 2026, according to The Gazette.
Company background and clients
The firm specialised in "creating innovative and eco-friendly packaging solutions for businesses of all sizes; from local enterprises to multinational businesses," as stated on its website. Among its most notable clients was Swizzels, the beloved sweet manufacturer, for whom Affinity first produced the 'Refreshers Original' carton in 2007. The company described Swizzels as "one of our most valued and significant customers."
Liquidation and debts
Dominik Thiel-Czerwinke and Louise Donna Baxter of BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed joint liquidators by the court. The Appointment of Liquidators statement noted that creditors who have not yet proved their debts should submit their proof of debt to the joint liquidators. At the commencement of the arrangement, the total sum owed to creditors stood at £2,465,901.
Breach of voluntary arrangement
In 2025, the business entered a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA). However, the company was wound up after this agreement was breached. The notice of termination or full implementation of voluntary arrangement states: "The Company has failed to comply with the terms of the Company's Voluntary Arrangement, which has resulted in three notice of breaches being issued each on separate occasions." A breach was issued to the Directors on 4 March 2026 for failure to make payments to HM Revenue and Customs when due. The company failed to remedy the breach within the prescribed 30 days, leading solicitors to present a petition for winding up, filed on 30 April 2026.
