Homeowners across England could be eligible for council grants worth up to £36,000 to make their properties more energy-efficient. The funding, part of the government’s Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) scheme, aims to help households reduce energy bills and carbon emissions.
What’s Covered?
The grants can be used for a range of improvements, including:
- Insulation for walls, roofs, and floors
- Air source heat pumps
- Solar panels
- High-performance electric storage heaters
Who Can Apply?
To qualify, homeowners must:
- Live in England
- Have a household income below £31,000
- Own a property with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F, or G
Private renters may also apply with their landlord’s permission.
How to Claim
Applications are processed through local councils, with funding distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Experts recommend acting quickly as demand is expected to be high.
