Tottenham's Alejo Veliz Set for Bahia Transfer After Brazil Arrival
Tottenham's Veliz Nears Bahia Move After Brazil Landing

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of announcing the transfer of Argentine striker Alejo Veliz to Brazilian side Bahia, a club within the City Football Group. The 22-year-old has landed in Brazil to finalize the details of the move.

Veliz's Journey at Spurs

Veliz joined Tottenham in the summer of 2023 but struggled to make an impact, managing only eight senior appearances under former head coach Ange Postecoglou and scoring just once. He subsequently went on loan to La Liga clubs Sevilla and Espanyol before returning to his boyhood club Rosario Central, where he scored six goals in 24 appearances this season.

Transfer Details

Tottenham had attempted to push through the deal during the January transfer window but were unable to cut short Veliz's loan at Rosario Central. Shortly after the winter window closed, an agreement was reached with Bahia for a fee of £7.8 million (€9 million), with an additional £871,000 (€1 million) in add-ons and a 20% sell-on clause.

Veliz spoke to journalists upon his arrival in Brazil: "I am very happy with this step in my career, arriving at this club. I am very emotional about leaving Rosario Central because that is my home and my family. We made this decision because I want to grow my career somewhere else. It was the best decision we made as a family."

Future Prospects

Bahia and the City Football Group have monitored Veliz since 2022, viewing him as a player with potential for further development and increased value. Although his loan with Rosario Central expires at the end of June, the deal could be confirmed earlier, as Rosario have no further fixtures and Veliz has already bid farewell to the club.

Meanwhile, Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is looking to strengthen his attacking options, targeting a new striker and a winger, with Manchester City's Savinho a priority target.
