A Suzuki Vitara has covered more than 436,000 miles in under ten years, with its owner reportedly still running the original engine, gearbox and exhaust system. The Japanese carmaker said the customer of dealer Hilton Suzuki Bedford had achieved 436,500 miles in a Vitara SZ-T with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, purchased new in 2017.
The owner used the vehicle every day, including numerous long-distance trips across Europe, and had it serviced at the dealership every few months. According to Suzuki, the car proved utterly reliable throughout that period, with no oil leaks detected despite the extraordinary mileage.
The only components requiring routine replacement were standard wear-and-tear items, such as brake pads and around 15 sets of tyres, along with a single driveshaft rubber boot. The dealership confirmed the Vitara continued to perform flawlessly.
The owner has since traded in the car for a 2024 Approved Used Vitara Hybrid. A Suzuki spokesperson said the result further reinforced the brand's reputation and its product pillars of Tech, Efficiency, Quality and Trust.
