Range Rover has unveiled the SV Ultra, a flagship model that redefines luxury with a world-first electrostatic audio system, plug-in hybrid power, and an invitation-only sales process. Developed with UK firm Warwick Acoustics, the audio system uses 21 ultra-thin electrostatic panels instead of traditional speakers, delivering cleaner, more natural sound. The panels are just a millimetre thick and work by moving a charged membrane between two plates, creating sound across their entire surface. This allows for a wider soundstage and more precise timing, making music feel more lifelike.
Revolutionary Audio Technology
The electrostatic panels are integrated into headrests, seatbacks, and the roof lining, creating a "concert hall" effect. Each seat gets its own personal listening space, with sound coming from above and around the occupant. The system is paired with Range Rover's Body and Soul Seats and a Sensory Floor, which add vibrations to the music, allowing passengers to feel the sound as well as hear it. Wellness programmes offer modes for relaxation or focus, enhancing the in-car experience.
Design and Materials
Externally, the SV Ultra features a Titan Silver finish with real aluminium flakes for a liquid-metal look, complemented by chrome and satin details and 23-inch wheels. Inside, a two-tone theme in Orchid White and Cinder Grey is available, along with a leather-free option from Ultrafabrics. Laser-cut seat patterns and rattan palm veneer add texture without being ostentatious.
Powertrain and Pricing
The SV Ultra offers a P550e plug-in hybrid with an electric range of around 69 miles and a P540 V8 engine. A fully electric version is expected later this year. Pricing is likely around £200,000, with sales by invitation only to Range Rover's most loyal clients. This model showcases the brand's pinnacle of luxury and innovation, blending advanced audio, electrification, and bespoke craftsmanship.
