Marseille Set £47.5m Price Tag for Mason Greenwood Transfer
Marseille Demand £47.5m for Greenwood

Marseille will demand £47.5 million before they consider selling Mason Greenwood this summer, as speculation over his departure from France intensifies. The former Manchester United striker has continued to rebuild his career in Europe, spending the last two years at the Stade Velodrome. Greenwood has scored 48 times for Marseille and become one of their most potent attacking weapons.

Marseille's Transfer Demands

The Ligue 1 side have no interest in letting the 24-year-old leave on the cheap. According to Fabrizio Romano, they want an initial £43.2 million before any add-ons to entertain Greenwood's exit. Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto de Zerbi was the man to sign Greenwood when he was in charge at Marseille, but left the French side midway through last season. They have since appointed Habib Beye as their new manager.

Manchester United's Sell-On Clause

United stand to benefit if Greenwood does move in the summer. The Premier League club included a hefty 40 percent sell-on clause in the £26 million deal that saw him move to Marseille back in 2024. This means United would receive a significant portion of any transfer fee.

Interested Clubs: Fenerbahce and Roma

Fenerbahce and Roma are the two clubs most heavily linked with Greenwood's signature. Fenerbahce presidential candidate Hakan Safi has already claimed that he will land the Marseille striker if elected and has made the potential transfer key to his campaign.

He said: “We have signed a four-year agreement with Mason Greenwood. He has proven himself at the highest level of European football. He has agreed to join Fenerbahçe during the most valuable and productive years of his career. I said I would bring a star player. Today, I am experiencing the justified pride of keeping my promise.”

Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini has made no secret of his desire to land the Englishman. The Italian side finished third last term, ensuring they will be in the Champions League next term, and are currently hoping to retain the services of Paulo Dybala with his deal due to expire.
