Liverpool are finalising two more deals and holding talks over a key attacking target as the transfer window enters its final fortnight. The Premier League season begins in less than a week, and the window closes on Tuesday, September 1 at 11pm.
Outgoings and contract situations
Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate all left on free transfers at the end of last season, along with Academy graduates Rhys Williams and James Balagizi. The only player to have departed for a fee so far is Luca Stephenson, who joined Bolton Wanderers for £700,000, while Tommy Pilling has moved to Slovakian side MFK Zemplin Michalovce.
Curtis Jones is a target for Inter Milan, with Galatasaray also having shown interest. Liverpool want in excess of £30m for Jones, who is out of contract next summer, with Harvey Elliott in a similar position. Joe Gomez, Wataru Endo, Kostas Tsimikas, Stefan Bajcetic, Virgil van Dijk, Calvin Ramsay and Alisson Becker are all in the last 12 months of their deals. Ramsay and Bajcetic could be allowed out on loan, but the rest are expected to be important players for Iraola.
Alexis Mac Allister, in the last two years of his contract, has seen talk of a move quieten since returning to the AXA Training Centre after the World Cup. Cody Gakpo remains a long-time target of Tottenham Hotspur, though no concrete interest has been made.
Loan moves and Academy activity
James McConnell is close to joining Preston North End on loan. Ifeanyi Ndukwe, an 18-year-old centre-back who arrived from Austria Vienna for £2.6million, is ineligible for competitive action this year and is wanted on loan by clubs in Denmark, Portugal, Spain, Belgium and France. Lewis Koumas is expected to attract interest, while Keyrol Figueroa is tracked by Barnsley, Salford City and Shrewsbury Town. Jayden Danns is anticipated to be in demand on his return to fitness, and Kornel Misciur has drawn interest from non-league clubs.
Armin Pecsi and Kyle Kelly have already agreed loans to TSV Hartberg and Forest Green Rovers respectively, with Amara Nallo at HJK Helsinki.
Incomings and attacking targets
Victor Munoz arrived in June after Liverpool triggered his £34.5m release clause at Osasuna, and Jeremy Jacquet officially moved from Rennes after a £60m deal. Last week, the Reds signed Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo on loan with an option to buy for £47m.
The Reds are still seeking a winger. They were willing to pay £86m for Yan Diomande, but RB Leipzig wanted more than £100m, and the player preferred a move to Paris Saint-Germain before eventually joining Real Madrid. Enquiries were made about Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche, who joined PSG, and Anthony Gordon was considered before he joined Barcelona. Yanbuka Minteh, Said El Mala and Matias Fernandez-Pardo have also been looked at, but PSG's Bradley Barcola has emerged as the clear priority, with talks held. Barcola is keen, but Liverpool would need PSG to lower their valuation of at least £130m.
While Liverpool are open to further arrivals in attack and midfield, much depends on whether any current senior players are moved on. The Reds have also secured a £750,000 deal for 17-year-old Colombian midfielder Samuel Martinez, who will move next summer.
