Reds Reignite Interest in Manu Kone
Liverpool have reportedly revived their interest in Roma midfielder Manu Kone, a French World Cup star, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport. The 25-year-old was first linked with a move to Anfield during Jurgen Klopp's tenure, and speculation has resurfaced just a day after Iraola's inaugural press conference as Liverpool manager.
Roma are under significant financial pressure, needing to generate £42 million (€50 million) to comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations. The Serie A side have now increased Kone's asking price to £51 million (€60 million) after UEFA granted them an additional month beyond their July 1 deadline. Atletico Madrid had been confident of securing a £38 million (€45 million) deal for the midfielder, but Liverpool's interest could complicate matters.
Liverpool's midfield struggled last season, with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch experiencing notable dips in form. Kone, who is currently representing France at the World Cup, is seen as a potential solution to these issues.
Curtis Jones Future in Doubt
Curtis Jones' future at Anfield remains uncertain, with Inter Milan showing persistent interest in the 25-year-old. The Serie A champions reportedly had a £27 million bid rejected last month, as Liverpool value the midfielder at £35 million. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Inter have accelerated talks by submitting a fresh approach via intermediaries, with transfer activity expected to intensify after Sunday's World Cup final.
Despite the speculation, Iraola has expressed a desire to keep Jones at Liverpool. Speaking on Monday, the manager said: "I will have the chance to speak with him today. I rate Curtis very highly. For me, he is a great, great player, and I hope he can continue with us and continue performing the way he has been performing. It's very important that he's Scouse, that he's from here."
