A worker has died following a machinery accident at the Tata Steel plant in Port Talbot, south Wales, prompting an immediate investigation.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the site shortly before 2pm on Wednesday after the worker required urgent medical attention. South Wales Police confirmed the death, describing it as an isolated incident with no threat to the public. The man's next of kin has been informed.
The Welsh Ambulance Service stated that the worker needed urgent medical attention after the accident. Tata Steel confirmed the incident in a tweet and said a full investigation had been launched.
In April, two workers were injured at the same plant after several fires broke out when molten metal came into contact with cold water on a railway track.
