Six Dead in Turkey Perfume Warehouse Fire

At least six people have died in a fire at a perfume warehouse in Turkey's Kocaeli province. Emergency services responded to reports of several explosions and a large blaze at about 9am local time.

Governor İlhami Aktaş confirmed the deaths and said others were receiving medical treatment. He told CNN Türk: "The cause of the fire, which claimed the lives of six people, is being investigated, and the injured are receiving treatment." The fire has since been extinguished.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed condolences, stating: "I extend my condolences to our deceased siblings in the fire that occurred in a warehouse in the Dilovası district of Kocaeli, and I pray for mercy from Allah for them." He added that investigations had been initiated by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş also offered condolences, saying the fire had "deeply saddened us all."
