Honda Recalls Over 400,000 Cars Over Wheel Fault

Honda has recalled more than 400,000 of its most popular cars due to a manufacturing error that could cause the wheels to fall off.

The issue affects Honda Civics from 2016 to 2021. According to Honda, a supplier's manufacturing process error may have failed to install steel lug seat inserts in aluminium accessory wheels.

Federal regulators have warned that the fault could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Affected owners can take their cars to a Honda dealership for a free wheel inspection and, if necessary, replacement at no cost.

Owners will be notified by letter early next month. This recall follows a year of widespread automotive recalls, with 25.8 million cars recalled in the US as of November, according to federal data cited by the Daily Mail.

Separately, Toyota recently recalled over one million vehicles due to a software error affecting the rear-view camera, which could increase crash risk. That recall covers certain Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra models from 2022 to 2026.
