Chelsea Release Four Youngsters Ahead of New Season

Chelsea have announced that four players will leave the club this month as they prepare for a new era under incoming head coach Xabi Alonso. The Blues have confirmed the list of players retained and released ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Departing Players

Midfielder Sam Rak-Sakyi and Finland youth international Jimi Tauriainen will both depart when their contracts expire on June 30. Rak-Sakyi, who made four senior appearances for Chelsea during their triumphant 2024-25 Conference League campaign, has been informed he will not be offered a new deal. Tauriainen, who featured twice for the Blues in the 2023-24 season, including a substitute appearance in a 2-0 Premier League win over Tottenham, will also leave.

Youth players Richard Olise and Brodi Hughes have also been released. Olise, the brother of Bayern Munich and France forward Michael Olise, joined Chelsea at Under-9 level, while Hughes has been with the club since Under-8.

Contract Update

Additionally, 21-year-old striker Ronnie Stutter has agreed to move to a month-to-month contract, providing flexibility for both parties.

A club statement read: “We thank all our departing players for their contributions during their time with the Blues and wish them well for the next chapter in their careers.”

New Manager Incoming

The departures come as Chelsea gear up for a busy summer of arrivals and departures under new manager Xabi Alonso. The Spaniard officially begins work on July 1 and is already in regular communication with the club’s five sporting directors regarding potential transfers.
