Partizan Belgrade are aiming to seal a swift exit for star man Vanja Dragojevic, with Rangers pushing ahead to land the 20-year-old. Record Sport understands the Ibrox side made an offer of £3.8 million for Dragojevic earlier this week, but the Serbians want another £1 million added, with negotiations ongoing.
Dragojevic Deal Does Not Rule Out Ferguson
Any deal for Dragojevic won't rule out a move for Lewis Ferguson after initial discussions were held between Rangers and Bologna. Dragojevic turned heads last season in Belgrade, where he is captain despite his young age; now he appears primed to leave his boyhood club.
Radosav Raća Petrovic, Partizan's newly-appointed sporting director, admits his side is seeking a quick-fire resolution regarding the future of their prized asset. Petrovic, speaking to ArenaSport, said: "Regarding departures, you have been informed that a lot has been written about it. We are also working on that, there are certain indications and I believe that in the coming days we will have more concrete information. It is an offer for Vanja Dragojevic."
McInnes Eyes Dragojevic for Revamped Midfield
Despite Dan Neil's arrival and the interest in Ferguson, Derek McInnes is an admirer of Dragojevic and sees him as a key part of a revamped Rangers engine room. The Ibrox side are expected to field significant interest in Belgium World Cup star Nico Raskin, with Mo Diomande, Connor Barron and Tochi Chukwuani also under contract.
Troyes Plead to Keep Diawara
Meanwhile, Troyes are desperate to keep hold of Sankhoun Diawara after the Ibrox side were credited with an interest in the 'revelational' central defender. Diawara was a key member of the side which earned promotion to Ligue 1, and now OuestFrance reports Troyes are keen to keep hold of the 20-year-old.
Rangers also face a fight with Basel for the 20-year-old, who has been capped by France at youth level. Troyes accepts that the right offer will be hard to turn down, as only one year remains on his contract, however, they are in no rush to part ways with the stopper.
McInnes Pleased with Early Business
McInnes admits he's delighted to have five players signed already and is willing to wait for certain targets during a transformational summer at Ibrox. He said: "It’s been good. A lot of the conversations were ongoing before I came in, but getting things over the line isn’t always easy. People think it is easy to get signings done but normally when good players are involved, more than one team is involved too. The board and the recruitment team should be pleased with their work so far. Clearly, there is still more work to do but we are pleased so far. Getting the boys in early is vitally important too. Some signings will take a bit longer, which is just the way, but getting the early signings is important."
