The wife of a 71-year-old Miami man has shared her profound grief after he was killed in a tragic accident involving industrial pastry-making equipment.
A Fatal Early Morning Incident
Mordehay Grunberger, known affectionately as Miki, died on Friday morning at the South Florida Kosher Market located on Northeast 163rd Street. According to investigators from the North Miami Beach Police, the long-time bread maker became caught in an industrial dough-mixing machine around 4 a.m. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Shop employees were reportedly unwilling to discuss the fatal event. The market was taped off for hours as crime scene investigators and the medical examiner conducted their work, with a significant police presence noted in the area.
A Wife's Heartbreaking Tribute
His wife, Inna Gastman Maor, who lives in Cooper City approximately 15 miles from the market, posted a moving tribute on social media. "Today, my beloved husband Miki, my closest person in my life my best friend, and father of my two beautiful sons, tragically passed away!" she wrote.
She expressed the depth of her loss, stating, "I lost myself. I love him so much. He's the love of my life!" Her public social media profile, which described Grunberger as a pastry chef, recently featured a video montage of the couple set to the song 'Enjoy Every Moment', uploaded less than a week before his death.
Investigation and Community Mourning
Police have stated that the death shows no signs of foul play and appears to be a tragic accident. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified and is investigating the workplace incident. The exact circumstances leading to Grunberger becoming entangled in the machinery have not been publicly detailed by authorities.
Friends and family quickly offered condolences online. One person remembered Grunberger as "a great man" who would be "missed by many." Another said they were "blessed to learn so much from him" and promised, "We will love Miki forever." A third friend wrote, "My heart is shattered for you and the boys... please know you are not alone."
The Daily Mail has contacted both the North Miami Beach Police and Inna Gastman Maor for further comment on the ongoing investigation.
