Marcus Rashford's team-mates have been overwhelmingly positive regarding his behaviour at Manchester United since returning. The 28-year-old had been seeking an exit from Old Trafford, but the indication that he will remain a United player grows with each passing day.
Rashford's Return to United
Under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim, Rashford was firmly in the bad books and was shipped out on loan to Aston Villa and Barcelona. It was anticipated he'd be sold this summer, but nothing has materialised. Rashford has now returned, playing in the club's last 4-2 pre-season friendly loss against AC Milan and acting as a mentor to the likes of JJ Gabriel and Shea Lacey.
Reports even suggest that his continued efforts to reintegrate, alongside his work with the youth under Michael Carrick, have "seriously impressed" those in charge. The England forward wowed last season in Spain, winning the La Liga title and the Supercopa trophy, but Barcelona opted not to sign him for £26million and he could be in the fray for the league opener against Hull City.
Teammates Praise Commitment
The failed move to Barcelona has seemingly not dampened the England international's spirits, as several of his team-mates have observed his admirable behaviour. Youri Tielemans played alongside Rashford during his loan spell at Villa and recently rubbished claims that he wasn't committed enough.
He said: "He's got amazing qualities. And I mean, his touch, his acceleration, his finishing, you know, his qualities on the ball. But then I think what surprised me most with him was his commitment. You know, there was such a big thing made out of him that he wasn't committed or wasn't in it for the right reasons or whatever."
"It's completely opposite from what you hear. He was committed. He was doing the work. He was positive with everyone. You know, he was just a normal guy." Tielemans added that Rashford still "needs support" from his teammates to return to good form.
Maguire and Mazraoui Weigh In
Defender Harry Maguire hopes the club will keep him, praising the "huge threat" they have reclaimed with his presence. Maguire said: "As players, we hope he stays because if he does, he is a big asset to have. He can improve us for sure. You saw when he came on, he threatened the backline really well. He could have scored. He's a huge threat. I've played with Marcus for numerous years and I know that playing against him and playing with him in training is going to help us."
Nassair Mazraoui also hailed the "great signings" United have made this summer and stated Rashford's return was "a big one in this season if he does not leave."
Carrick's View on Rashford
But the most important opinion comes from Rashford's new manager, Carrick. The United boss said the forward has come back "in great spirits," but is being treated "exactly like any other player." Carrick is reported to have held extensive talks with Rashford over the transfer window and is keen for him to remain at Old Trafford despite links with a move away.
