Aldi has identified the quietest times to visit its stores during the summer holidays, helping families avoid the busiest periods. According to in-store data from the German supermarket chain, which operates more than 1,080 branches across the UK, the calmest shopping windows are typically before 10am and after 8pm on weekdays.
Weekend Shopping Tips
For weekend shoppers, Aldi notes that Saturday evenings also offer quieter periods. The advice aims to make shopping simpler and more affordable for families during the school holidays.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “We know the school holidays can be a busy and expensive time for families, so we want to make shopping as simple and affordable as possible. By visiting during quieter periods and making use of Aldi’s everyday value, shoppers can save both time and money this summer.”
Price Cuts and Expansion
Aldi has invested more than £200 million in price cuts so far this year, reducing costs across fresh and frozen food, household essentials, and personal care products. The retailer is the UK's fourth largest supermarket and has plans to expand further, with 16 new stores planned across England, Wales, and the Isle of Wight in the coming months. These launches are part of Aldi's long-term goal to operate 1,500 stores in the UK.
Staff Pay Increases
In April, Aldi increased pay for its store assistants to £13.50 per hour nationally, with those inside the M25 earning £14.88. Based on length of service, these rates rise to £14.47 and £15.20 respectively. The change benefited 28,000 hourly-paid store workers.
