William Champions Wales at Major Investment Summit

The Prince of Wales is set to deliver a keynote speech at a major investment summit in Newport, positioning Wales as a prime destination for global business and innovation. The event, organised by the Welsh Government, represents the most significant gathering hosted by Wales since the 2014 Nato summit.

A Royal Endorsement for Welsh Business

Prince William will address an audience of more than 250 companies, with 150 of these firms being new to Wales. In his speech, he is expected to highlight a pivotal moment for investment in the nation, focusing on its "extraordinary possibility." He will champion the unique collaborative ecosystem where industry, academia, and government work as a single, connected community.

"Wales is a place where cutting-edge technology, research, innovation and a skilled workforce come together in a single, coherent ecosystem across many different industries," the Prince will say, according to prepared remarks. He will add that it is his "honour to play my part in championing the dynamic nation Wales is today."

Showcasing Key Sectors and Economic Impact

The summit, held at the International Convention Centre Wales, aims to attract foreign funding for new ventures across a diverse range of high-growth sectors. Key industries represented include:

  • Clean energy
  • Technology and life sciences
  • Financial services
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • The creative industries

The event underscores the existing strength of the Welsh economy, which is already home to 1,545 foreign-owned businesses employing over 176,500 people nationwide. Ahead of his speech, Prince William will tour the venue to meet Welsh businesses and hear from representatives of the green technology sector. He will also visit the new Newport facility of international semiconductor company KLA.

Government and Business Unite for Wales's Future

Welsh First Minister Eluned Morgan emphasised the summit's importance for forging crucial partnerships. "Events like this provide crucial focus for business and government to work together and make deals that will benefit communities the length and breadth of Wales," she stated.

The high-profile gathering in Newport on Monday, 1st December 2025, serves as a powerful platform to translate the nation's strengths in research, innovation, and skilled labour into tangible international investment and long-term economic growth.
